Know God?

Every person is born with the intrinsic need to really know God. When that need is never realized or ignored, disaster and spiritual mayhem ensue. The void will generally be filled with a search for self actualization in all the wrong people, places or things. All the while there is a deep, ignored hungering to really know God.

A kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they drew. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's artwork. As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.

The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."

The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."

Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, "They will in a minute."

Hey Christian! Let's grab on to that determination of the little girl who is just certain that she can show the world who the Father is. We are called to be like Jesus, so listen in to what Jesus had to say to one of His disciples:

John 14:8-10 (NIV)
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.

As hungry as we are to really know God, the enemy of our souls is just that determined to keep us from taking that step toward Him. That's where you and I come in, Christian, to show the Father with our lives daily -- just as Jesus did. No, it won't look exactly the way it did with Jesus, because He truly was God. We are just followers, at best. But we are challenged in His Word to walk in His righteousness so that there is plenty of evidence of HIM in our lives.

Is there enough evidence of HIM in your life to lead to a glimpse of the Father?
